Sneak peek launch of Screenwriting Manifesto

Sneak peek launch of Screenwriting Manifesto

Hello, world.

Welcome to the unveiling. Almost.

You are looking at the very early stages of my new web site, Screenwriting Manifesto. If you’ve just stumbled across this little corner of the Internetz, I welcome you and beg your indulgence. I wasn’t quite ready to launch this humble little web site. Not for a few months. But since I have a short piece coming out in the current (July/August 2008) issue of Creative Screenwriting magazine, there is bound to be some interest, some googling, some old friends looking me up.

I thought I had better make the bed, do some quick dusting, and roll up the stained area rug and toss it in the garage — company is coming. What you see here is the beginning of a web site. It’s here just to get things started. Aside from a few introductory posts in various categories, this site generally won’t be updated on a regular basis until late August — which happens to be my birthday.

Until then, you are welcome to stop in and see how things are evolving. Leave comments. Cheer and encourage. Please note: currently most links don’t work, menus are merely placeholders for future functionality, and some pages may look totally goofy.

I’m working on it.

David, the new site is looking excellent, and it’s good to see you blogging again. Is the new design a work of your own creation, or are you using a theme of some kind?

Anyway, looking good. Can’t wait for you to resume regular updating.

Site looks great. Funny, our company is actually getting a mention in the July/August issue of Creative Screenwriting magainze. If you get a chance, would love to hear your opinion - http://www.scripped.com. We’re a free, web-based screenwriting software platform targeted toward aspiring writers.

Good luck with the new site, and let us know if we can put a blog posting up for you at some point!

Thanks, guys. I coded the whole site myself, most of it was built on top of the code from the old site — but I drew inspiration from several magazine- and news-style WordPress themes for the new look. Much of the typography and the color scheme were borrowed from the Fresh News theme.

I liked the old Hollywood themed site. This new look site def looks more magazine like. Love the curtains photo. For the new site I thought there might be a new David photo.

Ahhhh, finally. I knew you couldn’t stay off the grid for too long. Excellent. Great to have you back and see that you’re still very much in the game.

Thanks for inspiring us to keep the train moving forward. We’re all right here with you. Looking ahead towards the development of the site and some good words to guide us.
