Welcome CS readers

Welcome CS readers

I have a short piece appearing in the July/August issue of Creative Screenwriting, which should be hitting newstands just about…now.

I was asked to write, breifly, my take on UCLA’s Screenwriting MFA program — what did I come away with, how the program helps (or doesn’t help) people to make connections in the industry, if it met my expectations overall.

I was happy to contribute to CS’s feature on film schools, and the folks at CS have truely outdone themselves here — if you are thinking about going, or even applying, to film school, I urge you now to pick up the current issue.

That said, there was really only so much I could accomplish with my allotted 600 words. There is probably a lot more I could say about UCLA. And in the coming weeks and months, if my readers are interested, I’d be happy to expand on my piece or answer questions.

It’s important to realize, too, that I’m not the only, the best, the smartest, the most representative, or even the most articulate graduate of UCLA’s world-famous graduate screenwriting program. I’m just one voice. A valid voice, but a single voice nontheless. Experiences vary by individual. If you are looking to assemble the truest picture of UCLA, you’ll need to cast a much wider net.

For now, I’m happy to give readers a glimpse into my own screenwriting life, such that it is. And to continue on that course, I’ve established this very web site, which I will introduce more properly in a future post. Until then, comments are open.
