Update II: Thanks everyone for sending in pages! I have enough to last a few rounds now, so I’ll post another notice when I’m ready for more. The first page will be posted Monday morning, and I’ll post a new one every week thereafter.
Update/Elaboration: This is about learning to improve, so please don’t be afraid to submit work that needs help. While we can all learn from good examples, it sometimes helps to see the “first draft” so we can recognize weaknesses in our own writing.
Send me the first page of your screenplay and I’ll critique, annotate and post it here on the blog.
Any format is fine, I’ll convert it to something readable here. Let me know if you want credit or to remain anonymous.
You retain the copyright but grant me a royalty-free license to publish your annotated page on my Web site in perpetuity throughout the universe and beyond. In other words, no take-backs — it wouldn’t be fair to readers or commenters if I had to yank the post.
I have a PAGE 1 that’s so hot off the press the ink is barely dry. I’ll get it to you tonight. What a cool experiment! Great idea Dave! I’m a firm believer in getting off on the right foot and I tend to agonize over first pages (rightfully so, I suppose).
Thanks for doing this!
That’s great, Jeff! I’m grateful to everyone willing to take a risk and have their work publicly critiqued. Look forward to seeing yours! (I’ve temporarily closed the call for submissions, but you can still send yours).
