Not that I’m a workaholic, but I hate hiatus. And we’ve been on hiatus for three weeks which means I’m kind of bonkers. Thankfully, that all comes to an end on Tuesday, right after the Labor Day holiday, and we get back to making more Gortimer episodes. It couldn’t come soon enough. I’ve had some of the worse insomnia I’ve ever had, including one stretch where I simply did not sleep for about 36 hours straight. The truth is that work, especially making-tv-show work, is a great distraction and right now a great distraction is what I need. I don’t want to think about the last few months, I just want to keep marching forward.
I’ve done some rearranging of the furniture, so to speak. The website is now less blog-oriented and more … whatever the opposite of blog-oriented is. The blog is still here, obviously, since you are reading this post. But lets all admit I’m not as frequent a blogger as I used to be. And I’m afraid I have to confess something about the blog I’ve been avoiding — that it has to mutate and evolve along with me. Once it was a very raw, open look at a struggling writer, sleep-deprived film student, dream-deferred artist. But now the dream has arrived and the blog has to evolve into a reflection of whatever this new, professional life looks like. (For the record, sleep is still scarce, and the struggle doesn’t end just because you get your WGA card). If you don’t know what I’m talking about that’s okay, I’m not sure I do either. I guess I just felt — after everything I’ve been through in the last couple of months — that I could use a fresh start in some area of my life. Continue reading
