The 2025 Story Yearbook is a small archive of the stories I wrote this year — science fiction, fantasy, a little horror, a drabble, and an excerpt from my middle-grade horror novel, The Tower. Each piece includes a brief note about the spark that led me to write it.
I think of it as a yearbook: a snapshot of who I was, creatively, for a little while.

Why I made this
At this point in the year, writers often assemble “eligibility posts” to let readers know which stories are up for awards. I’ve done that in the past. The Yearbook is my attempt to do something a little different.
This year brought both creative highs and lows, and the lows encouraged me to look more closely at why I write and what I want from it. Awards are fine—especially if they help a story find more readers and make new connections—but they’re not the reason I write. The real goal is to make contact with another human being. So I’m sharing these stories from a year in my creative life, along with some background and commentary on each.
