David Anaxagoras writes fiction and TV. His short stories have appeared in Lightspeed and The Dread Machine

He is the creator and co-executive producer of Amazon Prime Video’s coming-of-age series Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street which the New York Times called “smart and charming” and Variety said was “genuinely clever“. In 2016 David was nominated for a WGA Award for Outstanding Writing for his episode “Gortimer vs. the Relentless Rainbow of Joy”. The series went on to win multiple awards from the WGAHumanitas, and Parent’s Choice Foundation.

After Gortimer, David joined the writing team on the Netflix animated adventure series Glitch Techs and was honored by the Muslim Public Affairs Council for advancing authentic portrayals of Muslims in media.

David is a graduate of UCLA’s MFA screenwriting program and occasionally teaches screenwriting online. For the last several years David has served on the judging committee of the Humanitas Prize for Children’s TV. Prior to his writing career, David taught preschool and has a BS in child development.

David was born and raised in southern California. He currently lives in Texas, where he collects 80s vinyl and has made humidity his sworn enemy.
